Microsoft Adcenter (Bing) vs Google Adwords

Having run a number of campaigns it's clear to me that Microsoft Adcenter (via Bing) offer a much improved click-through rates at a third of the cost in comparison with Google Adwords. The main issue is that the search volumes in Bing obviosuly don't match up to Google so if you need a high volume high value paid search campaign then Google is still the leader.

  1. I've given this some thought, and I believe the search volume of Bing is not a big problem. If you want more volume, you place more ads. It's still cheaper on a per customer basis.

I think the most strategic approach may be to use both services. They don't really serve the same market. Using both should provide the optimum exposure for a company.

  2. I have never tried advertising through Bing. But I must say that their site and SE has seen great improvement over the past 12 months especially. Or perhaps it's just me finally taking a bit more notice of Bing. Do you think the merger of Bing with Yahoo to be a good one? I'm not sure I understand it all fully because I haven't been paying enough attention...just picking up snippets here and there. I would be most interested in your opinion please?
